What a morning drive Jeff. Thankfully I have never hit a deer with any vehicle. My sister has managed to total two vehicles in the last 5 months by hitting deer. One of those times she actually hit and killed two deer at once. We pick on her about it, but really it could be deadly. Hopefully your driving and your turkey season get better. Wow. I went turkey hunting with my husband this weekend and we did not have any luck. However, After hunting I left to go to Walmart and saw a turkey walking down Highway 341 in Perry, Georgia. Well...I did not hit the turkey with my truck, but it does make for a bad day when you spend the morning looking for one in the woods. That makes for a bad day! Last week I was on my way to work at 4am half asleep when a rabbit ran out and I couldn't avoid it. Just a second later, I guess a cat was after the rabbit and ran out and I just barely missed it. Then about a mile later a deer ran out and I just missed it. I was a nervous wreck by the time I got to work. I know how you feel, Jeff! I live in a "deer central" area too. We have one road we call "Deer Death Valley" because deer get hit there every year. So far I've been lucky, but I probably shouldn't say that, as I'll tempt fate. Hmm, maybe I'll take an alternate route home tonight. It is sad about the cat, but those things do happen.

As to the deer, they're pretty tough. Years ago, my best friend hit one in his brand new F150. $2500 in damage later, we still never found that deer. Good luck with the insurance company. I almost hit a turkey last week - thankfully I've never hit a deer. The worst pet accident we ever had was when my Dad ran over my kitten when I was 11 - it was sad, but we lived on a highway so we buried a lot of animals when we lived there. Ouch.
